Antron® carpet fibre aids Burmatex's evolution in style

United Kingdom, 1 August 2008 – The aesthetic and performance advantages of INVISTA Antron® carpet fibre has helped leading carpet manufacturer Burmatex launch modular carpet products Axis and Scan. Merging creativity and substance into a melody of colour and pattern, both ranges epitomise the growing importance that carpet now plays as a design cue in commercial office spaces.

Taking on drab and dour spaces, Axis and Scan form two parts of the seven-strong evolve concept, bringing bright tones to inspire commercial space designers and to create stunning interiors. Whether the linear loop pile of Scan or the solid cut pile of Axis, Antron® carpet fibre brings vibrancy, appearance retention and durability to make performance synonymous with the evolve concept.

Resisting crushing and abrasive wear Antron® carpet fibre has a high fibre crystallinity in type 6.6 nylon and has allowed Burmatex to create the neon-like high lustre tones of shades such as laser, dongle and cluster thanks to its maximum styling flexibility.

Capable of being formed into a wide range of constructions, Antron® carpet fibre has given the opportunity for Burmatex to present two different constructions - the loop pile of Scan and the cut pile of Axis - with the same performance level. As Darren Clanford, Creative Director at Burmatex, explains, this fits well with the evolve theory:

"During the conception of the evolve theory, our primary objective was to find the perfect mix of aesthetic flexibility and performance. Thanks to Antron® carpet fibre, both key requirements could be fulfilled.

"Although more than capable of going solo, Scan and Axis have been conceived as a partnership, working in harmony to bring creative colour to the commercial environment. Whether in breakout zone, highlight or large-scale use, it was important that both products retained the same wear and appearance retention characteristics as this provides designers with the scope intended when we conceived the evolve concept."

With designers looking to stretch the boundaries of the floor as a design element, Burmatex's evolve answers an escalating demand for innovative carpet tile products that primarily focus on their use as an aesthetic cue. The addition of Antron® carpet fibre makes this possible through dyability and flexibility, while its performance ensures that Axis and Scan perform to the requirements of commercial office space.
